South Kitsap used three singles, an infield out, and an error
to get two runs in the third.
Becca Sorensen beat out a bunt single to open the third. After an out Celine Woo singled to right to
move Sorensen to third. After a second
out Kelly McLaughlin out ran an infield single to score Sorensen.
Haley Dusek singled to open the fourth. Courtney Swan lined out to the first
baseman. Haley Dusek alertly stayed at
first. Alex DeStephano doubled to center
to score Dusek.
South Kitsap used a single, a bloop double into short left, and
a two out single to get two runs in the fifth.
South Kitsap used a single, a triple, and a two-out infield
single to get two runs in the sixth.
South Kitsap used a triple, a double, and a single to get two
runs in the seventh.
Alexis Mendez pinch hit and singled to center to open the
seventh. Mendez took second on a wild
pitch. Becca Sorensen beat out an
infield single to third to move Mendez to third. Kylie Ostrander pinch hit and beat out a bunt
single to load the bases. Celine Woo
beat out an infield single to score Mendez.
Kelly McLaughlin singled to left to score both Sorensen and Ostrander
and to move Woo to second. Alexa
Ostrander’s grounder went through the shortstop to score Woo and to move
McLaughlin to third. Ostrander alertly
took second on the throw home. Haley
Dusek beat out an infield single to load the bases. After an out Alex DeStephano singled to score
McLaughlin. Alexis Mendez (hitting for
the second time in the inning) ripped a single to left to score Ostrander with
the tying run. Becca Sorensen (on an 0-1
pitch) put down a perfect squeeze bunt for a single to score Dusek with the
winning run.
Good defensive plays were made by Alexa Ostrander who went to
her right to field a grounder and fired to Alex DeStephano at first who scooped
the ball out of the dirt to end the 2nd and save a run; by Rachel Sorensen who
raced all the way from left to catch a sinking fly ball in shallow center to
end the 3rd and save two runs; by Celine Woo who charged a bunt and fired to
Haley Dusek covering first to end the 5th; by Sarah Sorensen who came in to
make a nice running catch in right to end the 6th; and by Alexa Ostrander who
fielded a grounder with runners on third and second and threw the batter out at
first to end the 7th.
Courtney Schwan started and again went the distance for the
win. She struck out 6 and walked
none. This was her tenth win of the
season.
