      Abby McDonald worked the count full and then walked to open the third.  After an out McDonald took second on a wild pitch.  After a second out Alyssa McKiernan singled to right to score McDonald.

      Gig Harbor used three singles to get a run in the fourth.

      Alyssa McKiernan walked with one out in the sixth.  McKiernan stole second on the next pitch and then took third on a wild pitch.  With a 2-0 count Courtney Schwan took a strike and then singled to center to score McKiernan.

      Courtney Schwan started and again went the distance for the win.  She struck out five, walked two (one intentionally) and threw only 91 pitches.

      Good defensive plays were made by Becca Sorensen who fielded a grounder that got by the first baseman and still beat the batter to the bag for the first out in the 1st; by Ashlynn Ota who caught a line drive for the second out in the 3rd; by Courtney Schwan who fielded a shot to the mound and threw to Celine Woo to get the lead runner out at third for the second out in the 4th; by Rachel Sorensen who charged a RBI single to center and fired the ball back to the cut-off person where the throw was mishandled but Courtney Schwan alertly backed up the throw and fired to Celine Woo who tagged the runner out trying for third to end the 4th; by Courtney Schwan who fielded a come-backer and fired to Celine Woo to nail the runner trying to take third for the first out in the 5th; by Rachel Barcena who backed up an overthrow of first and held the runners to second and third with no outs in the 6th; by Abby McDonald who caught a towering foul pop up for the first out in the 6th; by Becca Sorensen who caught a line drive to second for the second out in the 6th; by Courtney Schwan who fielded a bases loaded come-backer and threw the batter out at first to end the 6th; by Celine Woo who fielded a sacrifice bunt and threw to Becca Sorensen covering first for the first out in the 7th; by Erica Grenlund who came in from left field on the bunt to cover third which stopped the base runner half way to third in the 7th; by Becca Sorensen who then ran at the runner and threw to Alyssa McKiernan covering second who threw to Celine Woo at third who threw back to Becca Sorensen (now covering second) who threw back to Celine Woo who tagged the runner out to complete a FANTASTIC double play.  Courtney Schwan fielded another come-backer and threw to Ashlynn Ota at first to end the game.

      Olympia used an error, a double, and two wild pitches to get two unearned runs in the second.
      Olympia used a single, a walk, a sacrifice bunt, and an error to get two unearned runs in the third.
      Olympia used a double, a fielder’s choice, a stolen base, a single, an infield out, and a home run to get four runs in the fifth.
      Courtney Schwan started and went the distance.  She struck out eight, walked one, and gave up only three earned runs.
      A good defensive play was made by Alyssa McKiernan who fielded a ball (that Courtney Schwan deflected) and threw to Alex DeStephano at first to get the batter for the second out in the 1st. 
      The real concern for the Lions was Alex DeStephano coming out of the game in the fourth inning with a pulled quad muscle.

      Becca Sorensen walked to open the third.  Alyssa McKiernan singled infield to move Sorensen to second.  When the throw to second was wild, Sorensen took third.  McKiernan then stole second.  After an out Alex DeStephano worked her way back from an 0-2 count (on her way to a 10-pitch at bat) and drove a ball to the fence in left for a triple scoring Sorensen and McKiernan.
      Rachel Sorensen singled to left to open the fourth.  Celine Woo singled to left to move Sorensen to second.  Ashlynn Ota grounded to the third baseman to force Sorensen at third.  Becca Sorensen ripped the first pitch down the left field line for an inside the park home run scoring Woo and Ota before her.
      Yelm used a one out walk, a stolen base, and a two out single to get a run in the fifth.
      Alex DeStephano doubled to left to open the fifth.  Rachel Barcena put down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move DeStephano to third.  Erica Grenlund tripled to the fence in left to score DeStephano.  Rachel Sorensen again singled to left to score Grenlund.  Celine Woo singled infield to move Sorensen to second.  Ashlynn Ota was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  After a second out Alyssa McKiernan dropped a single into right to score Sorensen and Woo and to move Ota to third.  Courtney Schwan singled to right to score Ota.
      Courtney Schwan started and went the distance for the win.  She struck out eight and walked two.  She retired the first Yelm batter in six out of seven innings.
      Another milestone happened.  Tri-captain Alexa Ostrander was back (on the bench) with the team despite still being sick.
      Good defensive plays were made by Rachel Sorensen who ran down a drive to right center to save a run and end the 2nd; by Courtney Schwan who knocked down a grounder up the middle and recovered in time to still get the batter for the second out in the 3rd; and by Becca Sorensen who went behind first to catch a shallow fly to end the game.

      Becca Sorensen doubled to left to open the game.  After an out Courtney Schwan beat out an infield single to move Sorensen to third.  Mikaela Kelly courtesy ran for Schwan.  After a second out Rachel Barcena singled to left to score Sorensen.
      Alyssa McKiernan drove a 2-1 pitch over the left field fence for a home run to lead off the third.
      Kamiakin used a single, a sacrifice, a double, a bad hop infield single and a throwing error, an infield out, and a single to get three runs in the third.
      With two outs and a full count the batter swung and missed but reached first when the ball bounced to the backstop.  Kamiakin used that, an error, and a sinking drive to right that turned into a home run to get three runs in the fifth.
      Kamiakin used a single, a stolen base, and an error to get a run in the sixth.
      Courtney Schwan started and went the distance.  She struck out seven including the first three batters in the fifth and walked none.  Only three of Kamiakin’s runs were earned.
      Good defensive plays were made by Rachel Barcena who fielded a blooper in right on one bounce and threw to Alyssa McKiernan covering second to force the lead runner for the second out in the 2nd and by Alex DeStephano who scooped a low throw out of the dirt for the first out in the 4th.

      Richland used five singles and a double to get five runs in the first.
      Richland used a solo home run to get a run in the third.
      Richland used two doubles and a single to get two runs in the fourth.
      Alyssa McKiernan tripled down the right field line with one out in the sixth.  Courtney Schwan grounded out to score McKiernan.  Alex DeStephano doubled to the fence in left center.  Rachel Barcena beat out an infield single to move DeStephano to third.  Erica Grenlund bounced a single to right to score DeStephano.
      Richland used a single, a home run, three more singles, and an infield out to get four runs in the sixth.
      Courtney Schwan started and pitched the first two innings and struck out two.  Rachel Barcena pitched 3 1/3 innings and struck out four.  Erica Grenlund pitched to three batters in the sixth.
      Two more milestones were reached.  Ashlynn Ota got her first varsity hit with a leadoff single to left to open the fifth and then stole her first base.  Erica Grenlund got her first varsity hit with a RBI single to right in the sixth.
      Good defensive plays were made by Celine Woo who fielded a grounder and got the runner from second in a run down and tagged her out for the first out in the 1st; by Rachel Barcena who called off the second baseman and caught a shallow fly in right center for the first out in the 2nd; by Ashlynn Ota who held on to a fouled third strike for the first out in the 4th; by Celine Woo who charged a slow roller and fired to Becca Sorensen who covered first for the second out in the 4th; and by Rachel Barcena who caught a pop-up bunt and fired to Alex DeStephano to double the runner off of first for a double play to end the 5th.
